We had the opportunity to visit the temple at Mohanur a small hamlet near Namakkal .Namakkal is famous for educational institutions, lorries eggs and Lord Anjaneya Swami temple and Goddess Namagiri Thayar temple.
Mohanaur is 18 km from Namakkal.
To reach Namakkal one has to travel from Salem, on the Salem Namakkal road, To reach Mohanur enter into Namakkal town, and go to Mohanoor road and proceed straight. It is 20 minutes drive from Namakkal. The road to Mohanoor is called Mohanoor Road On the way you can see the District Headquarters Hospital, etc.
There is a street called agraharam, in Mohanoor where in there is the Perumal temple, Sivan temple and a mutt for Sri Ragavendra swamiji.
The great Tamil Savant Vakeesa Kalanidhi Ki Va Jagannathan was born in this town.
In the Perumal temple after the Rajagopuram in the entrance to the sanctum sanctorum there is the deity called Sammohana Krishnan. This is more or less like Arthanareeswarar, half siva half parvathy. Like wise Sammohana krishnan is half Krishna and half Rukmani. The deity is made of panchaloka and very beautiful indeed..
It is believed that worship of this particular deity will bring the joy of kids to childless couple. So if couples worship this particular deity, it is assured that with divine blessings there will be kids roaming in their home soon.
Just a small distance from this temple there is a Sivan temple called Asalatheepeswarar temple on the banks of Cauvery. The name of the Goddess is Madukaravani. It is a very beautiful temple.
